Charles Spurgeon's Depression - Baptist (Isaiah 40:31)

Source: Biographical illustration85 words

Charles Spurgeon, one of history's greatest preachers, battled severe depression his entire ministry. He sometimes couldn't preach for weeks. Yet he returned—again and again. "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages," he wrote. Isaiah 40:31 was survival: waiting on God for renewal when his own strength was gone. "Those who wait on the LORD SHALL renew their strength." Not might, not could—SHALL. Spurgeon experienced this repeatedly. His weakness didn't disqualify his ministry; waiting on God sustained it.
