Daily Reflection: Perseverance - Story

When I think about perseverance, I am reminded of a woman in our parish, Anna. Every Sunday, she would sit in the same pew, her hands weathered yet strong, holding the Bible she had read cover to cover countless times. Anna’s life had not been easy; she had faced the loss of loved ones, illness, and the trials of raising her children alone. Yet, every week, she would arrive with a radiant smile, embodying the very spirit of Matthew 28:19-20, where Jesus commands us to go forth and make disciples, reassuring us of His presence always.

One day, after service, Anna shared a story that continues to resonate with me. She had begun to feel overwhelmed by the weight of her responsibilities. In a moment of despair, she surrendered her burdens to God, embracing a simple yet profound act of meditation. Each morning, she would sit quietly with her cup of tea, intentionally reflecting on God’s faithfulness. This practice became her sacred space, transforming her weariness into strength and anxiety into purpose.

As she persevered in this daily rhythm of love and devotion, Anna began to see the fruits of her labor. Her children flourished, not just in academics but in their faith. They witnessed their mother’s unshakeable hope, and it inspired them to seek out their own paths in Christ.
