Divine Love Transforming Human Love - Orthodox (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Source: Theological reflection74 words
The Orthodox distinguish natural human love (eros, philia) from divine love (agape). 1 Corinthians 13 describes agape—love that is God's nature shared with humans. We don't generate this love; we participate in it through theosis. St. Maximus the Confessor taught that as we grow in union with God, His love increasingly becomes our love. "Love bears all things"—humanly impossible, divinely enabled. The Orthodox practice patient love through the liturgical rhythm, trusting transformation over time.
