When Luther was condemned and hunted, his friends staged a "kidnapping" to hide him in Wartburg Castle. Luther called it "the best thing that happened" to him. Why? In hiding, with nothing else to do, he translated the New Testament into German—the book that would shape the Reformation more than any other. God used danger to create space for blessing. Luther saw the cross everywhere: death leading to life, loss becoming gain, worst becoming best. Romans 8:28 is cruciform—good comes through suffering, not around it.
