Morning Grace: Starting Each Day with God - Prayer

A prayer related to this devotional

The morning hour holds unique spiritual power. As the psalmist declared, 'In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly' (Psalm 5:3). There's something about the fresh start of each dawn that mirrors God's mercies, which are 'new every morning' (Lamentations 3:22-23). Jesus modeled this practice: 'Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed' (Mark 1:35). Before the demands of the day crowded in, before the voices of others filled His ears, Jesus connected with His Father. This wasn't legalism but relationship—the natural desire to begin each day in communion with God. A morning quiet time doesn't have to be lengthy to be meaningful. Even ten minutes of Scripture reading and prayer can set the tone for an entire day. Read a Psalm and let it become your prayer. Thank God for three specific blessings. Offer the day's activities to Him, asking for wisdom and strength. Listen for His voice in the silence. End by praying for others who will cross your path. This simple practice transforms ordinary days into holy opportunities. When we start with God, we carry His presence with us throughout the day.
