Show Don't Tell: Genesis 15:1-21
Instead of saying "God made a covenant with Abram," take them outside. Night has fallen. Abram is wrestling with doubt: "What can you give me since I remain childless?" Feel the ache of years of waiting. God leads him outside. "Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them." Feel the ancient darkness, the canopy of lights stretching to infinity. "So shall your offspring be." And here, under impossible stars, Abram believes. That belief is credited as righteousness. Then the covenant ceremony—animals split in half, bloody halves arranged in rows. Watch Abram fall into deep sleep, dread pressing down. A smoking firepot and blazing torch pass between the pieces—God alone walking the covenant path, taking the curse of breaking it entirely upon himself.
