Instead of saying "God rested on the seventh day," let them feel the stillness. Six days of divine speech, of matter springing into existence, of light separating from darkness—and then: silence. Not the silence of emptiness but the silence of completion. The kind of quiet that fills a room when the last guest has arrived at a feast. Everything that needs to exist now exists. Watch the Creator survey the finished work. Stars wheel overhead. Whales breach in distant seas. A man and woman walk through a garden they did not plant. And God—who does not tire, who needs nothing—chooses to stop. He marks this day: blessed, set apart, holy. Not because he's exhausted but because completion deserves honor. The rhythm is established. Work, then rest. Create, then savor.
