Show Don't Tell: Genesis 32:22-32
Instead of saying "Jacob wrestled with God," put them in the dark by the Jabbok. Middle of the night. Jacob has sent everyone across the river—family, servants, flocks. He is utterly alone. Then: hands grabbing him. A man. A struggle. All night they grapple—dust rising, muscles straining, neither yielding. As dawn breaks, the stranger touches Jacob's hip and wrenches it from the socket. But Jacob won't let go: "I will not let you go unless you bless me." "What is your name?" The question pierces: he must confess who he is. "Jacob"—the supplanter. "Your name will now be Israel—he struggles with God." Watch Jacob limp away as the sun rises, marked forever. He has seen God face to face and lived.
