Show Don't Tell: Genesis 46:1-27

As twilight drapes its velvet cloak over the land, Jacob stands at the precipice of destiny, his heart heavy with uncertainty. Should he venture into Egypt, a land of unfamiliar faces and strange customs? The stars begin to prick the darkening sky, each one a reminder of God’s covenant, yet doubt gnaws at his resolve.

Then, in the hush of the night, a voice breaks through the stillness, rich and resonant, calling his name. “Jacob! Jacob!” It’s a voice he knows well—one that calms storms and ignites hope. “Here I am,” he replies, his voice trembling with anticipation.

“Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt. I will make you into a great nation there. I will go with you, and I will surely bring you back.” Each word wraps around him like a warm embrace, stirring something deep within his soul.

As the first light of dawn creeps over the horizon, Jacob gathers his family—seventy souls, each one a vibrant thread in the tapestry of a future yet to unfold. They load their carts, the sound of wood scraping against stone a testament to their leap of faith. Each name whispered—Reuben, Simeon, Levi—carries with it a promise of legacy. Together, they cross into a land that feels foreign, yet they carry with them the assurance of their God.
