Show Don't Tell: John 6:16-21
Instead of saying "Jesus walked on water," feel the dark and the wind. When evening comes, his disciples go down to the lake, get into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it is dark, and Jesus has not yet joined them. A strong wind is blowing and the waters grow rough. When they have rowed about three or four miles, they see Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water—and they are frightened. "It is I; don't be afraid." Then they are willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reaches the shore where they are heading. Three miracles: walking on water, calming disciples, instant arrival. In John, no Peter stepping out. Just dark, wind, fear, and then—"It is I."
