Show Don't Tell: Luke 11:14-28
Instead of saying "Jesus was accused of casting out demons by Satan's power," hear the house divided argument. Jesus is driving out a demon that is mute. When the demon leaves, the man speaks, and the crowd is amazed. But some say: "By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons." Others test him by asking for a sign from heaven. Jesus knows their thoughts: "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?" If by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? "But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you." The stronger man—Jesus—binds the strong man—Satan—and takes his possessions. "Whoever is not with me is against me." A woman in the crowd calls out: "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
