Show Don't Tell: Luke 13:10-17
Instead of saying "Jesus healed a crippled woman on the Sabbath," see eighteen years straighten. On a Sabbath Jesus is teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman is there who has been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She is bent over and cannot straighten up at all. Eighteen years looking at the ground. When Jesus sees her, he calls her forward: "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." He puts his hands on her, and immediately she straightens up and praises God. Indignant because Jesus has healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader says to the people: "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath." Jesus answers: "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?" His opponents are humiliated; the people are delighted.
