Show Don't Tell: Luke 1:57-66

Instead of saying "John the Baptist was born," watch the writing tablet appear. When it is time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gives birth to a son. Her neighbors and relatives hear that the Lord has shown her great mercy, and they share her joy. On the eighth day they come to circumcise the child. They are going to name him after his father Zechariah—tradition. But his mother speaks up: "No! He is to be called John." "There is no one among your relatives who has that name." They make signs to his father—still mute—to find out what he wants to name the child. He asks for a writing tablet and writes: "His name is John." Everyone is amazed. Immediately his mouth is opened and his tongue set free. He begins to speak, praising God. Fear seizes the neighbors; throughout the hill country of Judea people are talking about all these things. Everyone who hears this wonders: "What then is this child going to be?" For the Lord's hand was with him.
