Show Don't Tell: Luke 15:8-10
Instead of saying "Jesus told the parable of the lost coin," sweep the floor in the dark. "Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn't she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?" Palestinian houses had dirt floors and small windows. A coin could easily disappear in the cracks. She lights a lamp—precious oil spent searching. She sweeps every corner. "And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.' In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." The angels join the party. One coin matters that much. One sinner matters that much. The search is relentless; the celebration is extravagant.
