Show Don't Tell: Luke 20:9-19
Instead of saying "Jesus told the parable of the wicked tenants," watch the violence escalate. He tells the people this parable: A man plants a vineyard, rents it to some farmers, and goes away for a long time. At harvest time he sends a servant to collect his share of fruit. The tenants beat him and send him away empty-handed. He sends another servant—beaten, treated shamefully, sent away empty-handed. A third—wounded and thrown out. "What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him." But when the tenants see him, they say: "This is the heir. Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours." So they throw him out of the vineyard and kill him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." The people: "God forbid!" Jesus looks directly at them: "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: 'The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone'? Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed." The teachers of the law and the chief priests look for a way to arrest him immediately—they know he has spoken this parable against them.
