Show Don't Tell: Luke 21:1-4
Instead of saying "Jesus praised the widow's offering," hear the coins clink. As Jesus looks up, he sees the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. The wealthy making substantial, visible deposits. He also sees a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." Two coins—a lepton each, the smallest denomination. Together worth about a few minutes' wages. But it was everything. The rich gave from surplus; she gave from substance. Proportion matters more than amount.
