Show Don't Tell: Luke 23:6-12
Instead of saying "Jesus was sent to Herod," watch the king wait for a show. On hearing that Jesus is from Galilee, under Herod's jurisdiction, Pilate sends him to Herod, who is also in Jerusalem at that time. When Herod sees Jesus, he is greatly pleased, because for a long time he has been wanting to see him. From what he has heard about him, he hopes to see him perform a sign of some sort. Herod wants entertainment—a miracle on demand. He plies him with many questions, but Jesus gives him no answer. Silence before the man who killed John the Baptist. The chief priests and the teachers of the law stand there, vehemently accusing him. Then Herod and his soldiers ridicule and mock him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they send him back to Pilate. That day Herod and Pilate become friends—before this they had been enemies. A king's robe as mockery. Enemies united by contempt for Jesus.
