Show Don't Tell: Luke 4:38-44
Instead of saying "Jesus healed many and left to preach," watch the sunset bring the sick. Jesus leaves the synagogue and goes to Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law is suffering from a high fever, and they ask Jesus to help her. He bends over her and rebukes the fever—speaks to it as he spoke to the demon—and it leaves her. She gets up at once and begins to wait on them. At sunset, the people bring to Jesus all who have various kinds of sickness. Sunset—when Sabbath ends and carrying the sick becomes permissible. Laying his hands on each one, he heals them. Demons come out of many, shouting: "You are the Son of God!" But he rebukes them and will not allow them to speak, because they know he is the Messiah. At daybreak, Jesus goes out to a solitary place. The people look for him and try to keep him from leaving. "I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent." And he keeps on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
