Show Don't Tell: Luke 8:1-3
Instead of saying "Women supported Jesus' ministry," count the names. After this, Jesus travels about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve are with him, and also some women who have been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women are helping to support them out of their own means. Luke alone records this. The Twelve get named often; the women rarely. But they fund the operation. Mary delivered from seven demons. Joanna from Herod's own court. They follow, they fund, they serve. The kingdom runs on unlikely donors.
