Show Don't Tell: Luke 8:22-25
Instead of saying "Jesus calmed the storm," feel the boat fill with water. One day Jesus says: "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they get into a boat and set out. As they sail, he falls asleep. A squall comes down on the lake; the boat is being swamped, and they are in great danger. Water everywhere, the boat filling. The disciples go and wake him: "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He gets up and rebukes the wind and the raging waters. The storm subsides, and all is calm. "Where is your faith?" he asks his disciples. In fear and amazement they ask one another: "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him." Creation recognizes its Creator. He sleeps through what terrifies them. His word stills what threatens them.
