Show Don't Tell: Mark 10:32-34
Instead of saying "Jesus predicted his death a third time," notice the fear on the road. They are on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way. The disciples are astonished, and those who follow are afraid. Mark paints the mood: something is about to happen; they can feel it. Jesus takes the Twelve aside and tells them what is going to happen: "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise." The most detailed prediction yet: Jewish leaders, Gentile executioners, mocking, spitting, flogging, death, resurrection. He knows exactly what awaits. And he leads the way anyway.
