Show Don't Tell: Mark 12:1-12
Instead of saying "Jesus told the parable of the wicked tenants," watch the violence escalate. "A man planted a vineyard"—Isaiah's image for Israel. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress, built a watchtower. He rented it to farmers and moved away. At harvest time, he sent a servant to collect fruit. They beat him, sent him away empty-handed. He sent another; they struck him on the head and humiliated him. Another—killed. Many others—beaten or killed. He has one left to send: his son, whom he loves. "They will respect my son." But the tenants say: "This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours." They take him, kill him, throw him out of the vineyard. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." Then Jesus quotes the psalm: "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." The leaders know he has spoken the parable against them. They want to arrest him but fear the crowd. So they leave.
