Show Don't Tell: Mark 12:35-37
Instead of saying "Jesus posed a question about the Messiah's identity," hear him turn questioner. While teaching in the temple courts, Jesus asks: "Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David?" Easy answer—correct but incomplete. "David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.' David himself calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?" David's descendant is also David's Lord. Human lineage and divine identity together. The large crowd listens to him with delight. They've watched him silence his opponents; now he poses a question no one can answer. The Messiah is more than they imagined—son of David and Lord of David.
