Show Don't Tell: Mark 14:43-52
Instead of saying "Jesus was arrested," watch the kiss land. Just as Jesus is speaking, Judas appears—one of the Twelve—with a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, teachers of the law, and elders. The betrayer has arranged a signal: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard." Going at once to Jesus, Judas says, "Rabbi!" and kisses him. They seize Jesus and arrest him. One of those standing near draws his sword and strikes the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. "Am I leading a rebellion," Jesus asks, "that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled." Then everyone deserts him and flees. A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, is following Jesus. When they seize him, he flees naked, leaving his garment behind. Even his clothes escape before he does. Total abandonment.
