Show Don't Tell: Mark 2:23-28
Instead of saying "Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath," watch the grain heads fall. One Sabbath, Jesus and his disciples are walking through the grainfields. The disciples begin to pick some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands to eat. The Pharisees pounce: "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?" Harvesting, they call it. Jesus responds with Scripture: "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread—which is lawful only for priests." Human need outweighs ritual restriction. Then the principle: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." God designed rest for human flourishing, not humans as slaves to rest regulations. "So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." He made it; he interprets it.
