Show Don't Tell: Mark 3:20-30
Instead of saying "Jesus was accused of being possessed," hear the family's concern. Jesus enters a house, and again a crowd gathers, so large that he and his disciples cannot even eat. His family hears about this and goes to take charge of him—they think he's out of his mind. Then the teachers of the law from Jerusalem: "He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." Jesus calls them together and speaks in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. A house divided against itself cannot stand." If Satan opposes himself, he's finished. "But no one can enter a strong man's house without first tying up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house." Jesus is the one binding the strong man and plundering his kingdom. Then the terrifying warning: all sins and blasphemies can be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven—"guilty of an eternal sin." They said he had an impure spirit. Calling good evil has eternal consequences.
