Show Don't Tell: Mark 3:31-35
Instead of saying "Jesus redefined family," watch the message passed. Jesus' mother and brothers arrive. They stand outside and send someone in with a message. A crowd is sitting around him. "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you." Who told them he was out of his mind? Jesus looks at those seated in a circle around him: "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother." He doesn't go out. He doesn't pause his teaching. He redefines family on the spot. Blood doesn't determine belonging; obedience does. The crowd sitting around him—listening, learning, following—are as close as biological relatives. Spiritual family forms around the will of God.
