Show Don't Tell: Mark 4:35-41
Instead of saying "Jesus calmed the storm," get soaked in the boat. That day when evening comes, Jesus says: "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd, they take him along, just as he is, in the boat. A furious squall comes up—waves break over the boat, nearly swamping it. Water everywhere, the boat filling, experienced fishermen terrified. And Jesus? He's in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. Mark alone mentions the cushion—a small detail that screams exhaustion and peace. They wake him: "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" He gets up, rebukes the wind, says to the waves: "Quiet! Be still!" The wind dies. Completely calm. Then to the disciples: "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They are terrified—more afraid now than during the storm. "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" Creation recognizes its Creator.
