Show Don't Tell: Mark 6:7-13
Instead of saying "Jesus sent out the Twelve," feel the vulnerability of the mission. Jesus calls the Twelve and begins to send them out two by two. He gives them authority over impure spirits. But here are the instructions: take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. Total dependence. Radical vulnerability. No backup plan except God. They go out and preach that people should repent. They drive out many demons and anoint many sick people with oil and heal them. The mission succeeds—not despite the vulnerability, but through it. Power flows through empty hands.
