Show Don't Tell: Mark 9:30-32
Instead of saying "Jesus again predicted his death," notice the secrecy and confusion. They leave that place and pass through Galilee. Jesus doesn't want anyone to know where they are. He's teaching his disciples: "The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise." Simple, direct, clear. But they don't understand what he means and are afraid to ask him. Afraid to ask. Why? Perhaps they remember Peter's rebuke. Perhaps they don't want to hear more about suffering. Perhaps the contrast between Transfiguration glory and crucifixion shame is too confusing. Jesus keeps teaching what they can't absorb. The cross remains incomprehensible until it happens.
