Show Don't Tell: Matthew 10:1-15

Instead of saying "Jesus sent out the twelve disciples," watch them receive power. Jesus calls them together and gives them authority—over unclean spirits, over disease, over sickness. The same power he's been wielding. Now it flows through their hands. Here are the names: Simon Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew the tax collector, another James, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, Judas Iscariot. Fishermen, a revolutionary, a traitor, a collaborator—an impossible team. Their mission: Israel only, for now. Their message: "The kingdom of heaven has come near." Their provision: nothing. No money, no extra clothes, no bag. Depend entirely on hospitality. If a town rejects you, shake its dust from your feet. Sodom and Gomorrah will fare better on judgment day. The stakes are higher than they appear.
