Show Don't Tell: Matthew 11:20-24
Instead of saying "Jesus denounced unrepentant cities," feel the woes land. "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!" These aren't distant pagans—these are towns where Jesus did most of his miracles. They saw. They heard. They didn't repent. "If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes." Ancient pagan cities would have responded better. Then Capernaum—Jesus' home base: "Will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. If the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day." Sodom—destroyed for wickedness—would have repented. "It will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you." Greater light creates greater accountability.
