Show Don't Tell: Matthew 12:46-50
Instead of saying "Jesus redefined family," watch the awkward moment. Jesus is teaching. Someone interrupts: "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." Natural response would be to pause, greet family, resume. But Jesus uses the interruption: "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" He points to his disciples: "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." Not rejection of Mary but expansion of family. Blood ties don't determine kingdom belonging; obedience does. The disciples—fishermen, tax collectors, zealots—are as close as blood relatives. Doing the Father's will creates family bonds thicker than biology.
