Show Don't Tell: Matthew 12:9-14
Instead of saying "Jesus healed on the Sabbath and angered the Pharisees," watch the test unfold. Jesus enters the synagogue. A man with a shriveled hand is there. The Pharisees ask, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"—looking for a reason to accuse him. Jesus responds: "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then to the man: "Stretch out your hand." He stretches it out, completely restored, as sound as the other. The Pharisees go out and plot how they might kill Jesus. Healing provokes murder plans. Doing good on the Sabbath becomes a capital offense in their eyes.
