Show Don't Tell: Matthew 15:29-39

Instead of saying "Jesus fed four thousand people," watch the healing hillside. Jesus goes along the Sea of Galilee, up a mountainside, and sits down. Great crowds come—bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute. They lay them at Jesus' feet. He heals them. Watch the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking, the blind seeing. The crowd praises Israel's God. Three days pass; they haven't left; they have nothing to eat. Jesus calls his disciples: "I have compassion for these people. I do not want to send them away hungry." Where in this remote place can we get enough bread? Seven loaves, a few small fish. Jesus gives thanks, breaks, distributes. Four thousand men, plus women and children, satisfied. Seven baskets left over. A repeat miracle for those still learning who he is.
