Show Don't Tell: Matthew 16:1-12

Instead of saying "Jesus warned about the Pharisees' teaching," watch the disciples miss the point. Pharisees and Sadducees—usually enemies—unite to test Jesus. They ask for a sign from heaven. Jesus sighs: you can read the sky for weather but not the signs of the times? "A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." He leaves. Crossing the lake, he warns: "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." The disciples think he's upset they forgot to bring bread. Jesus: "You of little faith. Don't you remember the five loaves for the five thousand? Or the seven loaves for the four thousand? How is it you don't understand I'm not talking about bread?" Then they understand: he meant the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. A little yeast spreads through the whole batch.
