Show Don't Tell: Matthew 17:1-13
Instead of saying "Jesus was transfigured on the mountain," climb with the three. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. There he is transfigured—his face shining like the sun, his clothes white as light. Not just glowing but blazing. Then Moses and Elijah appear, talking with Jesus. The Law and the Prophets conferring with the One who fulfills them. Peter blurts: "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters." While he's still speaking, a bright cloud envelops them, and a voice: "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" The disciples fall facedown, terrified. Jesus touches them: "Get up. Don't be afraid." When they look up, only Jesus. Coming down the mountain, he orders silence until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.
