Show Don't Tell: Matthew 20:29-34
Instead of saying "Jesus healed two blind men leaving Jericho," hear them through the crowd. Jesus leaves Jericho, a large crowd following. Two blind men sit by the roadside. They hear the commotion, learn it's Jesus, and shout: "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" The crowd rebukes them—be quiet, don't bother the rabbi. They shout louder: "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" Jesus stops. In that crowd, their desperation caught his attention. He calls them: "What do you want me to do for you?" Obvious answer, but he wants them to ask. "Lord, we want our sight." Jesus has compassion. He touches their eyes. Immediately they receive their sight—and follow him. The journey to Jerusalem continues, now with two former blind men who refused to be silenced.
