Show Don't Tell: Matthew 21:1-11
Instead of saying "Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly," watch the staging. Near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sends two disciples: "Go to the village ahead. You will find a donkey tied there, with her colt. Untie them and bring them to me." Everything arranged in advance. The disciples spread their cloaks on the donkey; Jesus sits on it. No war horse—a donkey, the animal of peace, fulfilling Zechariah: "See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." The crowds erupt. They spread their cloaks on the road. Others cut branches from the trees. They shout: "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Jerusalem trembles: "Who is this?" The crowds answer: "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." The city doesn't know the hour of its visitation.
