Show Don't Tell: Matthew 2:13-23
Instead of saying "The holy family fled to Egypt," hear the urgent whisper in the night. "Get up. Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt." Joseph doesn't ask why or how long. He wakes Mary. They pack in darkness. Feel the terror of a midnight flight—a toddler clutched against the cold, the road to Egypt stretching before them, Herod's soldiers already mobilizing. Behind them, Bethlehem erupts in screaming. Every boy two years old and under, slaughtered. Rachel weeping for her children. The Messiah survives because his father listened to a dream. Years pass. Herod dies. Another dream: "Go back." But Archelaus rules Judea—just as dangerous. One more dream redirects them to Nazareth. The Savior of the world grows up in a backwater town, raised by parents who kept fleeing and kept listening.
