Show Don't Tell: Matthew 24:15-35

Instead of saying "Jesus described the great tribulation," feel the urgency. "When you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation'"—let the reader understand—"then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." No time to grab possessions. Don't go back for your cloak. Pity pregnant women and nursing mothers. Pray it doesn't happen in winter or on the Sabbath. "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again." Without divine shortening, no one would survive. False messiahs will perform great signs. "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the wilderness,' do not go out." When the Son of Man comes, it won't be secret—like lightning that lights up the whole sky. Vultures gathering signal the body. Sun darkened, moon without light, stars falling. "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven... They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory."
