Show Don't Tell: Matthew 25:14-30
Instead of saying "Jesus told the parable of the talents," count the investments. A man going on a journey entrusts his property to servants: five talents to one, two to another, one to a third—each according to ability. The first two trade, double their money. The third digs a hole and buries it. After a long time, the master returns and settles accounts. The five-talent man: "Master, you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more." "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!" Same with the two-talent man. Then the one-talent man: "Master, I knew that you are a hard man... So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground." The master's response is blistering: "You wicked, lazy servant!" At least put it in the bank to earn interest. "Take the talent from him... throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness." The one who has will be given more; the one who doesn't will lose even what he has.
