Show Don't Tell: Matthew 26:17-30
Instead of saying "Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper," taste the bread break. The disciples ask where to prepare the Passover. Jesus sends them to a certain man in the city. Evening comes; he reclines with the Twelve. As they're eating, Jesus drops a bomb: "Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me." They're deeply distressed: "Surely you don't mean me, Lord?" One by one, even Judas: "Surely you don't mean me, Rabbi?" "You have said so." While they're eating, Jesus takes bread, gives thanks, breaks it: "Take and eat; this is my body." Then the cup: "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." A new covenant sealed in blood about to be shed. "I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom." They sing a hymn and go out to the Mount of Olives.
