Show Don't Tell: Matthew 26:47-56
Instead of saying "Jesus was arrested in the garden," watch the kiss land. While Jesus is still speaking, Judas arrives with a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders. Judas had arranged a signal: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." He goes directly to Jesus: "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kisses him. Jesus: "Do what you came for, friend." They seize him. One of those with Jesus draws his sword, strikes the high priest's servant, cuts off his ear. Jesus: "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?" He could summon 72,000 angels—but then how would the Scriptures be fulfilled? To the crowd: "Am I leading a rebellion that you have come out with swords and clubs? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me." Then all the disciples desert him and flee.
