Show Don't Tell: Matthew 26:57-68
Instead of saying "Jesus was tried by the Sanhedrin," watch the verdict decided before the evidence. They take Jesus to Caiaphas the high priest. The whole Sanhedrin is looking for false evidence—they've already decided the outcome. Many false witnesses come forward, but their testimonies don't agree. Finally two claim: "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.'" The high priest stands: "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" Jesus remains silent. Caiaphas tries again: "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God." "You have said so. But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." The high priest tears his robes: "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses?" They spit in his face. They blindfold him, strike him with fists: "Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?"
