Show Don't Tell: Matthew 27:57-66
Instead of saying "Jesus was buried," watch the stone roll. As evening approaches, a rich man from Arimathea—Joseph, a disciple of Jesus—goes to Pilate and asks for the body. Pilate orders it given to him. Joseph takes the body, wraps it in clean linen cloth, places it in his own new tomb cut out of rock. He rolls a big stone in front of the entrance and goes away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sit there opposite the tomb. The next day, the chief priests and Pharisees go to Pilate: "Sir, we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people he has been raised from the dead." Pilate: "Take a guard. Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." They seal the stone and post the guard. A dead man requires an armed guard. What are they afraid of?
