Show Don't Tell: Matthew 28:16-20
Instead of saying "Jesus gave the Great Commission," hear the authority claimed. The eleven disciples go to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. When they see him, they worship him—but some doubt. Both responses at once: worship and doubt. Jesus approaches them: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." All authority. Everything. Then the commission: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Not just converts—disciples. Not just believers—obeyers. Then the promise that makes it possible: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." The Gospel that began with "Immanuel—God with us" ends with "I am with you always." The presence that started the story sustains the mission.
