Show Don't Tell: Matthew 4:12-17
Instead of saying "Jesus began preaching in Galilee," trace the trigger. John is arrested—thrown into Herod's dungeon. The forerunner silenced. And Jesus responds not by hiding but by stepping into the spotlight. He leaves Nazareth and settles in Capernaum, by the lake, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. Matthew sees prophecy: "The people living in darkness have seen a great light." Feel the darkness of that region—Gentile territory, looked down upon, far from Jerusalem. And into that darkness, light breaks. Jesus' message is identical to John's, word for word: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near." The baton passes. The kingdom announcement continues. What John started, Jesus will finish.
