Show Don't Tell: Matthew 7:24-29
Instead of saying "Jesus told the parable of the two builders," hear the storm coming. Everyone who hears Jesus' words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain comes down, the streams rise, the winds blow and beat against that house—feel the shuddering, hear the howling—yet it does not fall. Its foundation is rock. But everyone who hears these words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built on sand. Same storm. Same rain, streams, winds. But watch the house collapse—"with a great crash." The difference isn't the storm; the difference is the foundation. When Jesus finishes, the crowds are amazed. He taught as one who had authority, not like their teachers. This isn't another rabbi's opinion. This is bedrock.
