Show Don't Tell: Matthew 8:23-27
Instead of saying "Jesus calmed a storm," get in the boat. Jesus climbs in; his disciples follow. He falls asleep—exhausted from healing, from crowds, from the weight of ministry. Then the storm hits. Not a gentle rain but a furious squall—waves crashing over the sides, the boat taking on water, experienced fishermen terrified. And Jesus sleeps. They shake him awake: "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" His response before addressing the storm: "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he stands. He rebukes the winds and the waves—speaks to them like disobedient children. Immediate calm. Absolute stillness. The disciples stare at each other: "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" The creation recognizes its Creator.
